October 18, 2010 CARL Paladino began his New York gubernatorial campaign by bragging hed clean out Albany with a baseball bat. When an ally likened his main Albany target, the (Jewish) leader of the State Assembly, to an antichrist or Hitler, he enthusiastically endorsed the slur. We also learned of Paladinos repertory of gag e-mails among them a pornographic picture of a woman having sex with a horse and a photo of an African tribal ritual captioned Obama Inauguration Rehearsal. How blind we were not to recognize that his victory in a Republican primary under the proud Tea Party banner was inevitable.

His conscience led him as a young undergraduate disgusted by the elitism around him to drop out of Harvard, and tortured him when he returned to finish his degree. It plagued him after he received his doctorate from Columbia and saw him head to the segregated South to join his friend Howard Zinn in teaching history at the historically black Spelman College. It propelled him to become the director of Freedom Schools in the Mississippi Summer Project of 1964. It prodded him a year later to chair the first march against the Vietnam War in Washington, D.C., and join Tom Hayden and Herbert Aptheker on a trip to Hanoi.

Beck has told his listeners, "they are taking you to be slaughtered." Isn't it time Beck and the Fox News network are branded by the appropriate government agencies as someone who is inciting, aiding and fomenting domestic terrorism?
