I know, let's celebrate by banning Nuclear Power! Yes, what a great way to
commemorate Earth Day. A world gone sane! And we’ll replace it with proven
renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro-electric, geothermal, and other
new technologies. I’ve been working with a few of them over the last few years
which will be having world-changing impact soon enough.
The Earth is Beautiful...Shall We be Stewards or Destroyers?
What a beautiful way to celebrate Earth Day--to replace these old-fashioned motors
and systems, which have served a very good purpose, and now are replaceable with
the "next generation" of technology, which historically, always pushes the old ones
out of the way, just as the new generations push the older ones out of the way!
The U.N. Considers an Earth Rights Proposal
Yes, the problems before us are profoundly serious. Today at the U.N., such notable
figures as physicist, environmentalist, international leader of Earth & People's
Rights,Vandana Shiva, Maude Barlow, and many others, gather to discuss the Earth's
own rights, just as was done in Ecuador when it came to re-writing their Constitution
not long ago, and it provided for the rights of Mother Earth Herself.
Gary Null's Radio Shows, week of 4-18-2011
Vandana Shiva, along with David Korten who recently had on A Better World, Naomi
Kline and Jeff Smith were all guests on Gary Null's show recently, discussing the
incredible corporatization of our governments, leaving virtually a sliver of place for
the People, and this cancerous activity has spread through most nations around
the world. Most every government official in elected or appointed office, across
the world, it appears has been significantly influenced by, or simply bought off
by the largest agricultural, chemical, medical-pharmaceutical, military, security,
insurance or media companies in the world. And these transactions have included
enormous real estate transactions all over India, Africa, China and on. These are
followed by the purchase of riparian rights, that is, the right to own and rape the
water (hence, "riparian"). If you didn't hear it, go to: www.prncomm.net and get
it in archive, as well as April 20, which discusses the documentation about BP's
urging Britain to start the war in Iraq so it could have a crack at their oil reserves.
Start a war for oil? NO! Affreux! Not Possible. As Wally Stevens in the Princess
Bride said,"Inconthevable!" Gary did an exceptional job in engaging each of these
exceptional guests to share their wisdom and expertise with the audience—don’t
miss them!
Our Food Supply - Real or Unreal? and: Is Food still Nourishing?
The soil has been depleted of minerals in the U.S., reported by the USDA, since
1933. Now it exists on fumes, gas fumes at that. Even without GMO's destroying
the genetics of our food, twisting them into molecular patterns the body doesn't
even recognize as nutrition (the parallel effect of micro-waved food). Just standard
Monsanto-DuPont-based farming practices, spraying with toxic pesticides for
decades, mono-crop farming, seeking to "one-up" nature, all of that, has led to
disaster!
State of the World - Oy Veh! and it's still Pesach
The "State-of-the-World" is so 'challenging' to behold in consciousness, we're best
off resorting to a gentler analogy. You could say it's sort of like what happens when
you leave a group of unruly children to play for a time with toys that are dangerous
with sharp edges, and you come back to find that a few bullies emerged and took
over all the toys, pushing the smaller kids around and pressing them into servitude,
and the toys are wreaking havoc on the playground and on the smaller kids
themselves now have cuts and the like. The younger kids are at some point given a
sense that they have a voice and possibly even some control, maybe, but the older
bullies actually really control the whole toy store and the playground. Remember
Lord of the Flies? We're looking at something like that.
The Psycho-emotional/Spiritual Problem Underneath
Corporatization In Brief
The problem looks like a physical problem, with what we've done to the
environment. But I will argue that it's a psychological/emotional and spiritual
problem. It is man, so unable to make peace within himself, he is unable then to
make same with others or with his habitat, his environment. He'll soil it. He'll beat
it up and damage it. Now not every man is like this, far, far from it--it's the bullies in
the playground who are so competitive with each other so their testosterone rises to
unprecedented, dangerous levels, and the damage is wreaked on us all. To the outer
world, they appear civilized if not debonaire, but internally, they're damaged, their
values are far out of whack, no matter how skilled their minds might be of seeking
to convince a challenger otherwise. We therapists know the games, as does any
astute observer. They have 'consensus reality' on their side, so they appear to be
the upper crust of society. But if they are responsible for ongoing deaths of species,
including of their own species, there's little civilized or balanced about them. No
bottom line could ever be more valuable than life itself, but this fundamental fact
that all indigenous wisdom recognizes, doesn't really 'register' with the captains of
our industries. We're in trouble!
Neuro-Chemical/Hormonal Rushes are Addictions:
A Time & Place for Things
In fact, it's worse, we're dealing with an addiction. The addiction is to certain
hormonal and neuro-chemical releases that occur in the thick of battle, with stress,
with the striving to win. All of these have their place in life, God knows, but when
the cost is human or eco-system life, it's better to go back to the tennis court or
the chess board, and leave "the Earth" and the rest of us out of it! This really can
be, should be, understood as a chemical addiction, that is born out of a serious
emotional maladjustment to life and living in society in balance with others.
So when we contemplate pulling ourselves out of the morass in which we find
ourselves, from what we eat to what we breathe, drink and think, we see that we are
dealing with some not minor inner demons, that are typically passed on ancestrally.
This tragedy of raping and pillaging Earth and her inhabitants, including members of
our own species, didn't begin yesterday. It has a long, dark history, as long as, and
along side of the history of meaningful, cultural, artistic, scientific, technological
development. In fact, they do have an abiding relationship.
Vanishing of the Bees - Film--Go See
I saw the film, Vanishing of the Bees last night, a one-night screening on 2nd Ave.,
and oh my, do we need more films like that. Like the frog, the vanishing of the bees
is another tell-tale sign of how far out of balance we are with Nature. The vanishing
is really not understood, it appears to be caused by a series of differing reasons, but
the main point is that it's never been this severe, and our vegetable and fruit crops
are severely adversely affected by this disappearance. In China, people have been
emulated bees to cross-pollinate, to try to compensate for the loss. I saw this on the
eve of Earth Day. Visit: VanishingBees.com
